Pioneer Black

2023 - present
Using my own photography and found imagery, I created  Pioneer Black, a fictional cigarette brand that reimagines cigarette packaging using the African American Heritage colors and symbols. The packaging features historically overlooked black Western figures along the lining and sides, addressing the erasure of their legacies. To further emphasize social commentary, I included the FDA-required health warnings that align with prevalent health issues in  African American communities, drawing attention to the targeted marketing to low-income, marginalized populations. This project aims to spotlight these untold stories and question the harmful impact of corporate exploitation on black bodies.
